My Story

I love to tell stories about my childhood and the tales that my extended family used to share about that mythical time in Korea before I was born. I also love to hear other people's stories and share them in a compelling narrative that maintains their voice. I am forever dazzled by the myriad of stories that are at once unique but express our shared humanity at the same time.

I was born in South Korea and grew up in a suburb of Los Angeles. I attended Occidental College and earned a B.A. in English and Comparative Literary Studies, and later an M.A. degree in Teaching of English from Teachers College, Columbia University.

In my early professional career as an English Language Arts Teacher, I established our high school’s first student-run newspaper and served as its teaching advisor. In graduate school, I joined an organization whose mission was to teach writing through oral history and publication-based curriculum, giving students an authentic audience and room to express their stories through conversation.

I write and edit a monthly newsletter as well as blog pieces and emails for fundraising purposes for a variety of organizations. As a member of communications, marketing, and media teams, I collaborate on projects and develop innovative strategies to extend our outreach and fundraising goals. I enjoy tailoring my skills to meet the needs of my clients while utilizing a variety of mediums.
